The 10,000 Year Clock
by Kevin Saunders Hayes

Tzom kal, and welcome back to another episode of Quarantine Compositions. My weekly series of original music I write just for you. The year 12,020 AD. The only picture that comes to mind is the scene from The Time Machine (the older good one), when our Time Traveler knocks the year lever forward and ends up in the land of The Morlocks. Now I can add a sound to that image, because on January 1st, 12,020 The Morlocks will hear a mysterious sound, metallic, yet purer than the sound their swords make when they clang together. Strange to them, but most everyone from the year 2020 would immediately recognize it as the chime of a clock rising from a cave in what used to be known as “Texas”. The Long Now Foundation - https://longnow.org/ - was created as a “counterpoint to today's accelerating culture…” their hope is to “help make long-term thinking more common.” Take a minute and explore “The 10,000 Year Clock” (because The Morlocks can wait). Until next week (which you can’t even measure on “The Clock”), G’mar Chatima Tovah. Wear a mask. Be kind to each other.
